Petruccelli skillfully settles in to his new position as East Boston’s State Senator
State Senator Anthony Petruccelli shows all the attributes of a local politician headed for much bigger things in life. During his first 10 months in the Senate, Petruccelli has taken the time and put in the required energy to make himself useful by learning the ropes, so to speak.
He is a young man on a mission who does not shoot from the hip, who weighs and measures his actions, and for whom the Senate isn’t just a job, but a profession.
And as such, Petruccelli’s approach to the job is methodical, and educational like learning a curriculum.
Representing East Boston, Revere, Winthrop, the North End, Cambridge and small sections of Beacon Hill and the West End in the Massachusetts Senate is a larger than life endeavor.
Since being elected to the Senate in a special election 10 months ago, Petruccelli has shown what it takes to represent East Boston, and all the other neighborhoods.
Petruccelli by his actions shows he is a discriminating, honest guy with his eyes wide open, who loves what he does and who has been making the rounds in the district to more fully acquaint himself with it.
The Senate leadership has allowed Petruccelli to preside over that legislative body repeatedly during his first 10 months, a sure sign that he will graduate to a real leadership position at a future point in time.
Most of us who know Senator Petruccelli, and who respect the attention he pays to his position, expect much bigger things to come from him.
We know this for sure – he is honest. He has gone to the Senate without baggage. He is studious, and frankly, he’s smart and knows what’s going on in the Senate.
The next step for him to take is to become a leader in the Senate, and by doing so, becoming a real leader in the district he represents.
Then he will be of great value to his hometown of East Boston and to all the other neighborhoods he represents.
Anything can happen in politics, and it quite often does.
Senator Anthony Petruccelli is in the right place at the right time – and this is very very good for East Boston.
