Joyce M. (Masciulli) Maria of Saugus, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully at home on June 8 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
The beloved wife of William Maria, she was the loving daughter of Edith (Carbone) and the late Ralph Masciulli, dear sister of the late James Masciulli cherished aunt of James Masciulli, Lorraine Burri and the late Paul Masciulli. She is also survived by many adored great and grand nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends will honor Joyce’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston today, Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. before leaving in procession St. Maria Goretti Church in Lynnfield for a Funeral Mass in celebration of her life at 12 noon. Ritchie Strangie
Fought courageous two-year battle against cancer
Ritchie Strangie of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, went home to the lord peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 7 at the age of 28.
Ritchie was a graduate of St. Mary’s Lynn, Class of 2008, and U Mass Lowell, Class of 2012. He was an active member and camper of Salesian Boys and Girls Club and a former employee of the Boston Herald.
For the last two years Ritchie courageously battled cancer. Never giving up and fighting bravely every day. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was the devoted son of Ritchie Strangie and his wife, Leigh Anne (Tobin) of Winthrop, dear brother of Christopher Strangie and Stephanie Strangie, both of Winthrop and cherished grandson of John Tobin and Claire (Paiva) and her husband, Thomas Haddad and the late Gennaro “Cue Ball” and Mary (Thistle) Strangie. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, East Boston. Ritchie was laid to rest in Winthrop Cemetery. In honoring Ritchie and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Research fund of Dr. Elizabeth Mullen project # 9617214 at Dana Farber Cancer Center Boston 02215 – in memory of her much beloved patient Ritchie Strangie.
