Theodore Jeveli

Owner and manager of Jeveli’s Restaurant for over 40 years

Theodore A. ‘Ted’ Jeveli of Winthrop passed away on March 16. He was 94 years old.

Ted was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the owner and manager of Jeveli’s Restaurant for over 40 years, a life member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club and the Pleasant Park Yacht Club in Winthrop, the former Winthrop Masonic Lodge and the Watertown Lodge of Elks #496.

“We all come from the sea, but we are not all of the sea. Those of us who are, we children of the tides, must return to it again and again, until the day we don’t come back;  leaving only that which was touched along the way.”

He was the beloved husband of the late Muriel B. (Bradshaw) Jeveli who passed away on January 17, 2007, the devoted father of Eric Jeveli of Winthrop, Connie Malcomb of Westminster and Sandra Wollenhaupt of Winthrop, adored grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of five.

Visiting hours will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Friday, April 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 222 Bowdoin St., Winthrop on Saturday, April 7 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Paul Joseph Vignoli, Sr.

Salem High School teacher and well known jazz musician

Paul Joseph Vignoli, Sr., a life-long resident of East Boston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness on March 27 at the age of 92.

Paul was born to John B. and Helen (Ivers) Vignoli on February 21, 1926. He was a proud World War II Army Veteran who served with the 517th Parachute Combat Team and was a member of the military band. Once home, Paul followed his passion for music and played all over New England with many big bands at great places like the Hi-Hat and Downbeat clubs and the Totem Pole Ballroom. He built a reputation as one of the best tenor sax men in New England. A well-known jazz musician, Paul also played in the first rock and roll concert in Boston at Mechanics Hall alongside Chuck Berry and many other famous musicians.

Paul was a talented union finish carpenter for many years. A graduate of Fitchburg State College, he was a school teacher at Salem High School, teaching drafting and wood shop, passing on his love for finish carpentry.

Paul was a proud member of the Boston Musician’s Union Local 9-535, North Shore Musicians Union Local 126, and the Carpenter’s Union Local 33. His passion for music never faded and he continued to play saxophone, clarinet and flute into his 90’s.

He was the beloved husband of 60 years of the late Louise H. (Brackett) Vignoli, devoted father of Paul J. Vignoli Jr., Ellen Vignoli, Jeanne McCaldon and her husband, David and Laura Paladino, all of Melrose; cherished grandfather of Allison, Gianna, Emma, Castor, Zachary and Anthony and the dear brother of Eleanor Ivers of Marblehead. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Paul was laid to rest with his beloved Louise at Holy Cross Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, East Boston. For additional information, visit: www.ruggieromh.com
