Rocco ‘Rocky’ Giovanniello

MWRA Retiree, past member of Mystic Valley Gun Club and Winthrop Elks

Rocco “Rocky” Giovanniello of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully on December 12.

A past member of Mystic Valley Gun Club and Winthrop Elks, he was a former employee of The MWRA for more than 30 years

He was the beloved husband of Sherry (Darabos) Giovanniello; devoted step-father of Jim Freeman and his wife, Lisa, Jeff Freeman and his wife, Heather, all of Michigan; loving brother of John Giovanniello of East Boston, Richard Giovanniello and his wife, Andrea of Saugus, Robert Giovanniello and his wife, Patricia of East Boston and the late Anthony Giovanniello; cherished uncle of Vanessa, Nikkii and Maria; dear step-grandfather of Cheyenne and Jadie Freeman. He is also survived by many adored aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor Rocky’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston, Thursday, December 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to the Chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery for a service at 10 a.m. Cremation services to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The American Kidney Fund, 6110 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, MD 20852.

The funeral home is handicapped accessible and a children’s lounge is available.
