Rosemarie Forti

Of East Boston

Rosemarie Forti of East Boston passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 16. She was in her 96th year.

The beloved wife of the late Vincent Forti, she was the devoted mother of Frank and his wife, Mary of Suffield, CT, Patrick and his wife, Etta of Braintree, Richard of California, and the late Catherine Rossi and Charlotte Horwitz; dear sister of Robert Bernardinelli of East Boston and the late Nancy Luongo and is also survived by many loving grand, great-grand, and great-great-grand children as well as by many loving nieces and nephews. Family and friends will honor Mrs. Forti’s life by gathering on Thursday, July 21from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston and again on Friday morning at 8:30 before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church for a Funeral Mass in celebration of her life at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Rosemarie being laid to rest with her beloved husband, Vincent in Riverside Cemetery, Saugus. May they rest in peace.

The funeral home is handicapped accessible, and a children’s lounge is available. Greivin Barrantes

Of Revere, formerly of Costa Rica

Greivin Barrantes of Revere, formerly of Costa Rica, passed away on July 10.

He was the loving son of Nelly (Murillo) and the late Fernando; beloved husband of Blanca (Morales) Barrantes; devoted father of Izamar, Katherine, and Daniel and dear brother of Surayee, Franklin, Marlene, Arrellys and Ronny.

   Family and friends will honor Greivin’s life by gathering today, Wednesday, July 20 from 4 to 8 p.m.in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston and again on Thursday morning for a funeral service in our Serenity Chapel at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with Greivin being laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery. Janette Haddock

Of Florida, formerly of East Boston

Janette E. (Armstrong) Haddock of Florida, formerly of East Boston, died peacefully on July 13.

The beloved wife of the late Kenneth Haddock, she was the devoted mother of Karen Forti and her husband, Mark of Saugus, Lisa Tirone and her husband, David of New Hampshire, Lori Haddock of Revere and the late Kenneth Jr,; dear sister of two brothers, five sisters and four pre-deceased siblings. She was the cherished grandmother of Justin, Christine, Christopher, Theresa, Ashley, Nicholas and Nicole, adored great grandmother of Justin, Hector and Dakota and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Salvatore ‘Turiddu’ Torretta

Owned Torretta’s Bakery in Beachmont Square; AKA “Salvatore The Ice Cream Man”

Salvatore “Turiddu” Torretta of Revere died on July 18 at the Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness. He was 77 years old.

Salvatore came to the United States from Augusta, Sicily in November of 1969 and he was well known throughout Revere, East Boston and Winthrop as “Salvatore The Ice-Cream Man”. In 1992 he opened the well- known Torretta’s Bakery in Beachmont Square.

Born in Augusta, Sicily, Italy, the son of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Marino) Torretta, he was the beloved husband of Mattea (Calanna the dev,oted father of Maria Torretta-LoBrutto of Wakefield, Joseph and his wife, Sarah of Wakefield, Ralph and his companion, Marcella of Revere and Antonella Pagliarulo and her husband, Anthony of Saugus; dear brother of Lucia Russo and Giovanni Torretta, both of Italy and the late Rosina Gianino, Paolo Torretta, Giuseppe Torretta, and Giuseppa Caramagnio. He is also survived by 11 loving grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St,, Revere on Thursday, July 21 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St Anthony’s Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Thomas Clark, Jr.

Of East Boston, formerly of Charlestown

Thomas H. Clark, Jr., of East Boston, formerly of Charlestown, peacefully passed away on July 15.

He was the loving companion of Ann Papandrea of East Boston; devoted father of Tami Rice, Deborah Clark and Steven Clark, all of South Dakota, and Linda Grabow of Oregon; dear brother of William Clark, Paul “Buddy” Clark, Mary Settlers, and Beverly Bridges and adored grandfather of 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by his cherished extended family, Arthur, Cathy, John, Annie, Nicolas, and Ryan.

Family and friends will celebrate Thomas’s life by gathering in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga Street, (Orient Heights) East Boston, today, Wednesday morning, at 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to St. Joseph-St. Lazarus Church, East Boston, for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Thomas’s life at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Thomas being laid to rest, with military honors, at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Elidore ‘Al’ Masiello

Decorated Korean War veteran

Elidore “Al” L. Masiello, a life-long resident of East Boston, passed away on June 20. He was 85 years old.

Al was a Korean War Veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star and a member of the Survivors of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

The cherished son of the late Pellegrino and Philomena (Cristallo) Masiello, he was the beloved husband of the late Dora (Mavilio) Masiello; loving father of Doreen Azzolino and her husband, Michael; adored grandfather of David and Michael Azzolino and great-grandfather of David Azzolino; caring brother of Anthony Masiello and his wife, Ann, Rita Masiello and the late Gemma Brogna.  Al is also survived by his dear friend Judith Orlandino and by many loving nieces and nephews.

Margaret Liguri

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Margaret (Briganti) Liguri of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed away July 13. She was 89 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Augustino “ Babe” Liguir; cherished aunt and godmother of Nancy Abrams of Newburyport, Elizabeth Baptista of Revere, Thomas Rossi of Hawaii, Linda Perrault of Maine, Robert Rossi, Richard D’Amelio and  Carmine “JR” D’Amelio, all of East Boston, Robert D’Amelio of Florida, Mara O’Brien of Winthrop, Bernadette Briganti of East Boston and Joseph Briganti of Cambridge and the dear sister of the late Louise Rossi, Nancy D’Amelio, John Briganti and Janet DiLuigi.
