A Great Day for Suffolk University and East Boston

A great partnership began Saturday between Suffolk University and the East Boston community with the celebration of University’s new home at East Boston Memorial Stadium.

The ceremony was impressive and the atmosphere was festive as Suffolk officially announced that its baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s soccer teams will playing their home games at the fields and will be sharing the facilities with East Boston High School and the East Boston community.

John Nucci, a lifelong East Boston resident and Suffolk’s senior vice president of external affairs, had the perfect call when he said it was an “extra special day” for him. All East Boston athletes can certainly share that sentiment.

The partnership was the result of the excellent cooperation between Suffolk University officials and the City of Boston, notably Mayor Martin J. Walsh and City Councillor Sal LaMattina, who attended Saturday’s celebration.

We look forward to watching the Suffolk University teams compete on the East Boston fields and viewing the many improvements that Suffolk intends to make at the athletic complex.
