Alfred Ruggiero

Of East Boston

Alfred Ruggiero of East Boston passed away on March 26. He was 85 years old.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was the loving father of Jennifer Schrieken and her husband, Steven of Texas; cherished grandfather of Steven Jr and Eric Schrieken and great-grandfather of Violet and Lily; caring brother of the late Rose Hammond, Salvatore Ruggiero, Beatrice Bruker, Helen Naso and Michael Ruggiero and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Former employee of the Commonwealth of Massachusets and the City of Boston

Diane M. (Galvin) Albano of East Boston passed away on March 25.

A former employee of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the City of Boston, she was the beloved wife of the late Anthony “Tony” Albano; cherished daughter of Annette (Ciasullo) Galvin of Revere and the late Francis “Yip” Galvin; loving mother of Andrea Hallahan and her husband, Timothy, Anthony and his wife, Kelly (Levine) Albano and Bianca Albano, all of East Boston and Antoinette Lefevre and her husband, Matthew of Chelsea; dear sister of Michael Galvin of Maryland and the late Thomas Galvin; adored grandmother of Alixandrea, Riley and Shane Hallahan and Emma Lefevre and fond aunt of Thomas Galvin of East Boston and many other nieces and nephews.

Devoted her life to her family

Josephine Frances (Brangiforte) Gentile, a lifelong resident of East Boston, passed away on March 23. She was 78 years old.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Phyllis (Ferrera) and Phillip Brangiforte; beloved wife of the late Marshall Gentile; loving mother of Josephine Matthews and her husband, Joe, Phyllis DelVecchio and her husband, Anthony, Marsha Saunders and her husband, Al, Carol Recupero and her husband, Joey and the late Domenic Gentile; adored grandmother of Christina, Joy, Bianca, Joey, Guistina, Billy, Christopher, Nicholas, Domenic, Vanessa and the late Peter; caring sister of Rocco Brangiforte and his wife, Joanne, Salvatore Brangiforte and his wife, Anne, Phillip Brangiforte and his wife, Maureen, Joseph Brangiforte and the late Carmella Ferrante, Domenic Brangiforte and Annmarie James. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Brangiforte and by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Josephine cherished and devoted her life to her family.

Anthony Monteleone

Loving family man

Anthony F. Monteleone of Ingleside Ave., Winthrop passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 30. He was 84 years old.

Born in East Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Maria (Gozzo) and Emmanuel Monteleone. A resident of East Boston for many years, he has resided in Winthrop for the past 22 years.

After high school, he went on to the Wentworth Institute of Technology where he received a certificate to be an electrician. He worked for many years as a carpenter before his retirement. He was a loving family man and he devoted his life to be all about his family.

He was the devoted husband of Paola (Indomenico) and the loving father of Lucia Monteleone and Jonah Selaya-Mendez of Medford, Annette Monteleone of Winthrop and the late Concetta Giangregorio; dear brother of Frank Monteleone and his wife, Marie of Winthrop and the late Mary Scudieri and Anna Monteleone; cherished grandfather of James, Juliet, Aeden, Massimo, Zurie and Eva and father in law of Jason Giangregorio and his wife, Cheryl. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Monday, April 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 7 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church (corner of Paris and Brooks St.) East Boston at 10 a.m. Interment to follow the mass will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
