Stop & Shop’s Turkey Express trucks will deliver 250 turkeys to the YMCA of East Boston in time for Thanksgiving. The delivery is one of eight stops on Stop & Shop’s Turkey Express route throughout New England and one of 16 across the Northeast. As it celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, Stop & Shop is renewing its commitment to making a positive difference in customers’ lives every day with programs like Turkey Express that help share meals and give thanks to the communities and families it serves.
According to FeedingAmerica.org [1], 1 in every 8 people are impacted by hunger and food insecurity. Within Massachusetts, there is a high demand for donations to local food banks and Stop & Shop’s donation to the YMCA of East Boston is more important than ever to help local families in need.
“At Stop & Shop, we continually strive to uphold our promise of being a better neighbor all year long,” said Joe Kelley, president of Stop & Shop New England. “For many families in need throughout New England, the holidays can be a particularly difficult time and we are committed to supporting those who depend on hunger relief organizations during the holidays, and throughout the year.”
This November, Stop & Shop will donate more than 21,000 turkeys to local food banks throughout the Northeast with its Turkey Express program.
