Sherry Lynn Segal of East Boston died on May 11.

She was the loving mother of Ashley Mosely of Saugus; beloved daughter of Maria (Johnson) of Georgia and Phillip and his wife, Laura of Wakefield; dear sister of Melanie. Shayna, Dennis and Andrew and is also survived by her loving niece and nephews: Isabel, Dennis, Nicholas and Theodore.

Her Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Thursday, May 15 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St Anthony’s Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Jose Israel Diaz of East Boston died on May 10.

He was the beloved husband of Dina M. Diaz; devoted father of Meraris Liseth Diaz, Pastor Israel Diaz and Gerver Israel Diaz, all of East Boston and he also leaves many adored members of the Diaz Family.

Theresa M. (Stapleton) Ascolillo of East Boston died unexpectedly on May 11, Mother’s Day.

She was the beloved wife of the late Hugo; devoted mother of Edward and his wife, Irene of East Boston and William and his loving companion, Susan Colella of Revere and the dear sister of Catherine Mulcahy of Lawrence. She was prdeceased by four brothers and four sisters. She was the cherished grandmother of Edward, Michael and Kara and the adored great grandmother of Mia, Hunter, Alexis and Christian. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor Theresa’s life by gathering Thursday morning, May 15 from 8:30 to 10:30 in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, Brooks Street, for a Funeral Mass in celebration of Theresa’s life at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with Theresa being laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery. Charles Amirault

Past Employee of Eastern Airlines and Winthrop Yacht Club Member

Charles F. Amirault of East Boston died on May 10.

A US Navy veteran of World War II, he was a past employee of Northeast Airlines and a member of the Winthrop Yacht Club.

The beloved husband of the late Marie (Doherty) Amirault, he was the devoted father of Michael of East Boston, Stephen of Georgia, Kathleen Murphy of Woburn and Charles of East Boston; dear brother of the late Clifford, Laura, Robert and Marian; cherished grandfather of Jean Paul and Stephen Montgomery, Justin Blakely, Sean and Shane Amirault and Andrew Murphy and the adored great grandfather of Ryan and Mia Montgomery.

Family and friends will honor Charles’ life by gathering Thursday, May 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Ruggiero Family Memorial Home, 971 Saratoga St. (Orient Heights) East Boston and again on Friday morning at 9:30 with a service in our Serenity Chapel at 10 a.m. in celebration of Mr Amirault’s life. Proprietor of Barney’s Pool Hall in Chelsea

Frank J. “Barney” Maniscalco, formerly of Revere and The North End of Boston, died on April 25.

A US Army veteran of World War II and the proprietor of Barney’s Pool Hall in Chelsea, he was the beloved husband of 59 years to the late Dolores J. “Dolly” (Myhal); devoted father of Denise Brandano of Lynnfield and Debra Fleming of Peabody; loving father in law of Robert Brandano; cherished grandfather of Robert and Gina Brandano of Lynnfield, Kristen Brandano and Peter Rossi of Delray Beach, FL, Daniel Fleming and Samantha Scott of Wakefield, Brian Fleming of Peabody and Marisa Fleming of Peabody and he also leaves four great grandchildren: Tiana, Robert, Nicholas and Ava Alyse. He was the treasured uncle of Wendy, Craig and Brandi Neil of Revere; dear brother of Antionette Sposito, Salvator Maniscalco, Gus Maniscalco, Joanne Jankun and the late Katherine Marino, Patsy, James, Anthony, Charles and Joseph Maniscalco.

Caregiver for East Boston Elder Services

Angelina (Giambartolomei) Faretra of Beverly, formerly of East Boston, passed away on May 9 surrounded by her family at the Essex Park Rehabilitation Home. She was in her 90th year.

Angelina, who worked as a caregiver for East Boston Elder Services, was the beloved wife of the late Edward “Okeydoke” Faretra with whom she shared 40 years of marriage, the loving mother of Lynda Fatalo of Manchester by the Sea and her late husband Joseph, Giannina Faretra Reilly and her husband, Jeffrey of New Hampshire and the late Joseph and Edward A. Faretra; dear sister of Catherine “Rusty” Esposito and Anthony Bartolomi, both of East Boston, Dino of Revere and the late Agnes Dilisi, Jennie Giannone, John and Loretta Giambartolomei. She was the cherished grandmother of nine and the late Joanna Fatalo O’Neil and the great grandmother of 13 great grandchildren.

Marie A. “Netta” (Russo) Sasso of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed away on May 8.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Sasso, Sr.; loving mother of Lisa Ferri and her husband, Vincent and Joseph A. Sasso, Jr. and his wife, Jen, all of Revere; dear sister of Angela McCarthy of East Boston and the late Joseph Russo. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren: Alexa, Anthony and Vincent.

Peter Martino

Longtime Proprietor of Martino’s Meat Market in East Boston

Peter J. Martino of Lewis Avenue, Winthrop passed away at the Chelsea Soldiers Home on May 10 after a prolonged illness. He was 89 years old. Born in Boston, the beloved son of the late Eliseo and Alphonsina Martino, he enlisted in the US Army Air Force during World War II and served in Northern France, Central Europe, Rhineland and the Ardennes. He was honorably discharged as a T/SGT.

After his discharge. he went on to become the proprietor of Martino’s Meat Market in East Boston for many years. He was also a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks and the Winthrop Son’s of Italy.

He was the devoted husband of the late Catherine A. (LaCascia) and the loving father of Carol Lunt and her husband, Paul of Winthrop, Janice Riley and her husband, Dave of Prescott, Arizona, Elaine Phaneuf and her husband, Paul of Pocasset, Peter J. Martino, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Winthrop, Robert Martino and his wife, Louise of Winthrop and Mary Gillis and her husband, John of Winthrop; dear brother of Ferdinando Martino and the late William Martino, Concetta Bombaci, Mary Arena, Joan Cousimano and Gerald Martino.; loving brother in law of Rose Viola; cherished grandfather of Nicholas Martino, Jessica Martino, Justin Martino, Ariana Martino, Samantha Gillis, Sean Gillis, Eric Gillis, William Gillis, Danielle Ross and her husband, Seth, Christopher Prew and Robert D. Martino and great grandfather of Victoria Martino and Avery Ross.

The funeral will be conducted from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son-O’Maley Funeral Home, Winthrop today, Wednesday, May 14 followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church. Rev. Charles Bourke will celebrate the mass and offer prayers at the interment in Winthrop Cemetery. Samuel Fusco

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Samuel G. Fusco of Revere, formerly East Boston, passed away May 6 surrounded by his family at the Soldiers Home in Chelsea.

He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II and a 20 Year veteran of the US Army Reserve.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth ( Mercurio) Daviiaux – Fusco with whom he shared 30 years of marriage; loving father of Margaret and Paul Hegan of Peabody, David Daviaux of Melrose and the Late Robert Daviaux and his wife, Carol of Florida; dear brother of Mary Bruno of Revere and her late husband, Anthony, Ralph Fusco and his wife, Lillian of Edgartown; cherished grandfather of three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were by Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, Revere. Burial with military honors was at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
