East Boston Men’s Hockey League

Ivaska rips Ecco, as Long shines for Lightning during Men’s Hockey play

Week 4 we saw the emergence of a player who can potentially become a force this season at Porazzo Rink.

The winless Team Carlo Basile took on Ecco Restaurant, in a game that started out all Basile and quickly became a shootout, but Basile defenseman Dave Ivaska had the final say in this contest as he did all but jump between the pipes, torching Ecco for three goals. All three goals, beautiful shots that goalie Brad Watkins never saw.

Steve Moccia pitched in with 2 goals for Team Basile while Nick Martino, Mike Mondello, and Chris Prew had solo tallies in the 8-5 victory over Ecco. Jimmy Leger had a pair of goals, Darrell Internartolo, Chad Higgins, and Mark Buttiglieri had solo tallies for Ecco.

In other action, Market Cafe continued their winning ways with convincing victory over Milano’s Deli as Matt Morrissey led the charge with 2 goals while Greg Copello, John Casey, and Marc Lanzilli pitched in with single tallies in the 5-1 victory.

Goalie Chris Grossmann was dazzling at times turning away all but 1 courtesy of Joey Salvadore. Lightning Express took on the East Boston Yacht Club in a game that was all Lightning from start to finish as Goalie Mario Long shut down the EBYC offense only allowing 2 goals, both from Sebastiano Amara in the 6-2 victory.

For Lightning Dave Collins notched the hat trick, Dom DiMarzo with a pair, and Kris Sullivan buried the loner.

Week 5, Team Carlo Basile took to the ice against Charlie Daniels and the EBYC. Team Basile was poised to stay in the win column after notching their first win of the season in week 4, and did just that behind the play of Chris Prew who buried a pair while Sal Santostefano provided solid defense all game long and added a solo tally to go with Dave Berardinelli’s pair.

Sebastiano Amara, Nick Clewer, and John Lloyd scored East Boston Yacht Club goals. Game two of the evening we saw an absolute battle between Ecco Restaurant and Milano’s Deli. Both teams went goal for goal all game long with Ecco receiving goals from 7 different players and Joey Salvadore leading the way for Milano’s with a hat trick followed by Mike Burri who buried a pair.

Dave Natola and Steve Dixon scored single goals. For Ecco, Jeff Delpidio ran the show with a pair of goals, while Jimmy Leger, Darrell Interbartolo, Mike O’Brien, Chad Higgins, David Preston, and Ecco newcomer David Chiaradonna, who was acquired in a trade last week that sent Mark Buttiglieri to Team Basile, all had single tallies. Game 3, Goaltender Mario Long was back at it again for Lightning Express completely shutting down the highflying Market Cafe offense earning him the shutout 3-0. Long has been the backbone for lightning Express the past few weeks. Dom DiMarzo provided the offense with 2 goals and Dante Arinella with a solo goal. Tuesday nights at Porazzo Rink are only getting better. Don’t miss out on EBMHL action.
