Zumix’s A Cappella Ensemble, which consists of three Zumix students, was invited to play at last Friday’s Outside the Box Festival in Boston.

Irisbel Rojas, Sarah Coelho, and Francesca Canepa performed with Zumix’s Artist Ambassador, Will Dailey, at the July 19th Festival on the Boston Common. Dailey is Zumix’s Artist Ambassador of the year for 2013 and is an independent, Boston-based recording and performing artist.

“We were honored to perform with Will Dailey at the Outside the Box Festival! I was so proud of my vocal students and grateful for the time Will took to include them and rehearse with them at ZUMIX. We’d like to thank Will Dailey and the Outside the Box Festival organizers for this incredible opportunity,” said Zumix Vocal Instructor Sentirenla Lucia.

Will Dailey of Will Dailey & The Rivals is an accomplished recording and performing artist, who is a two-time winner of the Boston Music Award for Best Singer/Songwriter. Dailey has released two full-length albums titled Back Flipping Forward and Torrent through CBS Records and his music has been featured on over 50 television programs and films. He has appeared on stage with Neil Young, Dave Matthews, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp at two of their philanthropic Farm Aid concerts, and recently completed work on a Stephen King/John Mellencamp project produced by T Bone Burnett.

Dailey will hold the prestigious title as Zumix’s Artist Ambassador for one year and will have the opportunity to give back and collaborate with Zumix to enhance the program’s music, arts, and youth development. Over the course of the next year, Dailey and Zumix will work together in several capacities, including co-hosting a fundraiser to benefit the organization. He will be highlighted in Zumix’s promotional materials including their website, social media, and electronic and paper mailings.

Candidates for Zumix’s Artist Ambassador of the Year Award were artists who have achieved mastery of their craft, have a true passion for and dedication to the arts, and will serve as a positive role model to inspire Zumix youth.

In November 2011, Zumix was honored with a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award. This award, presented by First Lady Michelle Obama, recognizes Zumix as one of the top 12 youth arts and humanities programs in the country. For more information, please visit www.zumix.org.
