Eagle Baseball Club Now Playing in Fall Tournament

The East Boston Gram Slam Eagle Baseball Club, under the direction of owner/operator Gerry DiVenuti Sr., is playing in the Classic Wood Bat Fall Tournament sponsored by the Boston Foundation and Champ Sports through October.

The team, consisting of 16-to-18 year-old players, competed in a 20-game summer Senior Babe Ruth travel schedule from June to August. Overall, the Eagles have 35 players participating on their 19-under and 16-under teams.

The team’s supporters include East Boston High School varsity baseball coach Phil Brangiaforte, Joe Plagenza, Anthony Pascucci, the East Boston Athletic Board, Jimmy Caruso, and Champs Sports.

DiVenuti, a long-time baseball coach and youth sports leader in East Boston, is assisted on the Eagles’ coaching staff by Charlie LoGrasso, Anthony LoGrasso, Jimmy Caruso, and Shawn Theriault.

The Eagles’ star players include  Mike Theriault, Conner Henry, and John Cinelli of East Boston High School; Eddie Funes and Nick Duenas of Boston Latin Academy; and Chris Portrait and John DiVenuti of Revere High School.

Several East Boston High School varsity and junior varsity players are members of the Grand Slam Eagles Baseball Club contingents.
