The EBMHL Season 2 is in the books. Another fantastic season at the Porazzo Rink wrapped up last Tuesday evening with all teams playing for playoff positions.
It was a season of ups and downs for many of the teams in the EBMHL in a season where any one of the seven teams could have come out on top, but it was the East Boston Yacht Club who was able to roll through the league winning the regular season crown.
They also boasted the leagues leading scorer in Charlie Daniels who finished up the season with 58 goals and 23 assists for 81 points. The EBYC earned the bye for week one of the playoffs and will be waiting in the wings for their round 2 opponent. Tuesday night March 22, 2011 the playoffs are slated to begin at the Porazzo Rink kicking off at 8:00pm. Game one will feature Bill Ash’s Lounge vs The Comets. Bill Ash’s heads into the playoffs hot thanks to the leagues second leading scorer Darrell Interbartolo who finished up the season with 48 goals and 30 assists for 78 points.
The Comets were the cellar dweller this season but can pose a threat any given week. Game 2 begins at 9:00pm and we will see Urban Sun Tanning take on Sound Decision in a game that can go either way due to the outstanding goaltending we will see in this one with Mike Gregorio going for UST and Nick Rossi for Sound Decision. Game 3 at 10:00pm features some of the leagues leading scorers and offensive weapons as The 113 Club takes on Yellow Taxi. For 113 Peter Hanlon, 3rd leading scorer in the league, will be looking to take control early in this one, and for Yellow Taxi Paul Monzione, 4th leading scorer, will surely have something to say about that.
Both Hanlon and Monzione finished the season with 66 points. This years playoffs are sure to not disappoint and we encourage any and all to come on down for some playoff excitement.
In addition to this weeks playoffs, The Boston Massacre Mens Hockey Club will be taking on The Red Legs of the Mass Army National Guard in the Relay for Life Charity Hockey Game this coming Saturday, March 26th, 2011 at 4:30pm at The Porazzo Memorial Rink in East Boston. Tickets are currently available and will also be available at the door the day of the game. Cost is $10.00.
