The ‘Sun’ is Setting on Second EBMHL Season

 

The EBMHL’s second season began with Urban Sun Tanning rolling over the competition, but with 3 weeks remaining,  have suffered 6 consecutive losses giving way to the East Boston Yacht Club who have stormed through the league to take first place thanks to the 72 pts from Charlie Daniels and the outstanding goaltending of Chris Grossmann. For the rest of the league, the playoffs are fast approaching and everyone knows all too well, anything can happen come playoff time. There’s no question who will be the targets in this years EBMHL playoffs.

 

With 7 teams jockeying for position in the playoffs week 17 was yet another amazing week of hockey in the EBMHL. Game one saw Bill Ash’s Lounge take on the 113 Club in what was a fantastic game from start to finish. Both squads came out flying in this one, as the battled back and forth for a solid 2 periods of hockey before Bill Ash’s pulled away for the convincing 9-4 win sending a stern message to the rest of the EBMHL that they are not to be taken lightly.

 

Tony Silvestri and Darrell Interbartolo lead the attack for Bill Ash’s with 3 goals and 3 assists each. Glenn Squilaciotti, Sebastiano Amara, and Mike O’Brien pitched in with the single goal tallies for Bill Ash’s. Goalie Luke Brendamore was amazing as he shut down the 113 offensive attack. Marc Lanzilli, Mike Burri, and Alec Vineau took care of the scoring for the 113 Club.

 

In the game of the evening, it was Sound Decision taking it to Urban Sun Tanning, 4-2, handing them their 6th consecutive loss and also making a statement to the rest of the league with an impressive win over a very talented Urban Sun squad.

 

Dominic DiMarzo was the difference in this one as he took it to UST all game,  finishing with 2 goals and 2 assists. Marc DeAngelo, and Chris Connoly handled the remainder of the scoring for Sound Decision. Jeff Delpidio and Justin Mazzone did the scoring for UST as goalie Nicky Rossi was able to keep the high powered offense in check all game. In the finale of the evening, first place powerhouse East Boston Yacht Club dismantled the Comets with goals from 5 different players and another standout performance by goalie Chris Grossmann to solidify their hold onto first place heading into the final 3 weeks of the season.

 

It was Dante Arinella leading the scoring attack for the EBYC in this one tallying 2 goals and 3 assists, while the leagues leading scorer Charlie Daniels buried the hat trick and an assist to put his total for the season at 72 pts. There was more then one hat trick in this one as Kris Sullivan also netted 3 goals of his own. John Lloyd pitched in with 2 of his own, while David Collins had the single tally.

 

The Comets were bolstered by 2 great goals from Mike Gordon with Jared Melilo, Sal Santostefano, and Brian Hayes burying one a piece. With 3 weeks remaining the action is only going to get better at the Porazzo Rink, so please try your best to get out on a Tuesday night to watch Eastie’s Finest do battle on the ice. Also, the East Boston based Boston Massacre Men’s Hockey Club,  will be taking on the RedLegs of the Mass Army National Guard on March 26th, 2011 @ 4:30pm at the Porazzo Rink in East Boston in a charity hockey game to benefit the East Boston Relay for Life.
