T officials unveil evacuation chairs

At Maverick Station in East Boston last week, Boston Fire Commissioner Roderick Fraser and firefighters were greeted by MBTA General Manager Richard Davey, who formally presented the fire department with specialized evacuation chairs for emergencies on the transit system and elsewhere.

The MBTA provided the Boston Fire Department with twenty more of these evacuation chairs throughout the transit system.

“This represents the great partnership between the MBTA and the Boston Fire Department,” said General Manager Davey. “We all share the common goal of keeping the public safe, and being properly prepared when an emergency occurs.”

Considered critical pieces of emergency response equipment, nearly five hundred of the specially-designed emergency evacuation chairs.
