In only the third week since inception, the EBMHL expanded to 6 teams. With 3 games to be played, Tuesday night promised to be filled with great hockey and excitement.
The first game featured Woody’s Liquors taking on Sound Decision. This contest showcased great goaltending by both Nick Rossi and Chris Grossman ending with Rossi’s team, Sound Decision, leading 1-0 after 1 period. In the 2nd , Charlie Daniels put Woody’s in the lead by setting up the 1st goal and scoring on the 2nd on a one-timer from Dom Dimarzo. There were 7 goals scored in the 3rd with the lead changing hands a few times. With roughly 3 minutes remaining Daniels set up Dave Couldren for the game winning goal. Couldren would add an empty netter on an unselfish pass by team sponsor John Wood to seal the 6-4 victory.
Game 2 had Demo Solutions facing off against Hatrick Sportswear. The Demo Solutions offense continued to roll opening up an 11-2 lead through 2 periods of play. Team sponsor Mike Burri was the spark up front with a hat trick and 4 assists on the night. Demo Solutions finished the game strong holding Hatrick scoreless in the 3rd period to win 13-2.
The final matchup featured the 2 new teams, Comets and E.B. Yacht Club, playing their first games of the season. Both teams were up to the task with an excellent opening period where the Comets held a 4-3 lead, with Chris Palmer scoring 2 for the Comets. The 2nd period saw each team score 2 goals each and the Comets clinging to that 1 goal advantage heading into the 3rd period. E.B.Y.C was able to tie the game in the early stages of the 3rd period on a goal by Dave Collins. But the Comets responded with 2 more goals to earn the 8-6 win
